 About

Archbishop James V. Casey Council was founded in 1986 through the efforts of Past State Deputy Robert “Jerry “ O’Connor, the council’s first Grand Knight. It is named after Archbishop James V. Casey, who was Denver’s Archbishop from 1967 to 1986. Archbishop Casey was born in Iowa in 1914, attended the North American College in Rome, was ordained in 1939 and entered WWII as a Navy Chaplain in 1944. After serving 2 1/2 years in the Navy, Archbishop Casey received his Doctorate in Canon Law in 1949. He became a Monsignor in 1952 and the Auxiliary Bishop of Lincoln, Nebraska in 1959. He was then appointed Archbishop of Denver on 2/22/1967. Archbishop Casey headed the Denver Church in the troubled 60’s but became a very progressive but humble leader during his tenure. Archbishop Casey’s motto was “I came to serve-not to be served”. This motto is foremost on every Knight’s mind who is a member of our council. Council # 9349 works closely with St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Littleton, Colorado by providing funds and many volunteer hours for various projects. Many members are active participants in the parish and participate as Eucharistic ministers, Ushers, Lecturers and members of many committees.  Members also pray weekly in the Adoration Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament that is open 24hrs a day / 7 days a week.
